My Approach
My style as a mediator is versatile and adaptable to the parties and context. In some cases, an evaluative assessment of the merits of the claims and defenses, likely outcomes, and the costs and benefits of obtaining them can drive positional bargaining to a successful settlement. I combine 25 years of litigation experience and strategic negotiation skills to help parties get there.
In other cases, a facilitative approach is more suitable. I am able to sit down with the parties in the same room to help them articulate the interests underlying their positions, facilitate communication, and find win-win solutions. I offer a keen, non-judgmental ear and the communication skills to help the parties safely negotiate what’s really at stake.
I have represented parties or served as a mediator in scores of cases, big and small, resolving disputes in a wide range of areas--including contract/commercial, employment, trust & estate, real estate, and family law. I completed the 36-hour Professional Mediation Skills Training Program in 2005 and obtained a Mediator Practitioner Certificate from the Dispute Resolution Center of Snohomish, Island, and Skagit Counties in 2010.
